DriveShield allows students to use the computer any way they want without affecting any other student that comes after to use the same computer. We do not have to create a censor policy or otherwise restrict the student's use of this resource while also not causing inconvenience to other students who may not want the computer to contain material that is not conducive to what they want to accomplish. We also have reduced our maintenance requirements to restarting a computer, which the student can do for themselves. This is a key to providing unmonitored 24 hour access to computers for students. We were extremely pleased to discover that upgrades, enhancements, and tech support are included (with the annual maintenance agreement). Originally we purchased the Centurion hardware locks. Now we use Centurion Technologies DriveShield software lock. This software is easy to install and has the option of using a Network Controller.
